As part of the “SeLv” project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, the hydrogen truck designed by the Chair of PEM (Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components) of RWTH Aachen University has successfully passed crucial tests for individual operating approval (EBE) – a significant milestone for hydrogen mobility in heavy-duty transport.

One of the important tests took place at our premises – EU-compliant hill climbing: At our Aldenhoven Testing Center, the truck with a total weight of more than 40 tons mastered a gradient of 12 % five consecutive in compliance with EU Regulation 2021/535. Thus the prototype impressively demonstrated its hill climbing performance under realistic conditions.

The aim: emission-free drivetrain solutions for freight transport which are suitable for everyday use.

“These tests under controlled conditions provide us with important data for system validation,” says PEM Director Prof. Achim Kampker.
