When test requirements call for an urban environment, we offer optimal conditions at the Aldenhoven Testing Center: Our highly variable urban environment allows for the realistic simulation of nearly allinner-city traffic situations – from traffic light intersections and roundabouts to parking areas, pedestrian crossings, and bus stops.

Euro NCAP tests also in the uraban environment

Numerous tests can be carried out on our test site in accordance with Euro NCAP test protocols. Various track elements are available for this purpose, including our oval circuit, the vehicle dynamics area, and the urban environment.

This allows tests for the protection of adult occupants and children, pedestrian protection, and safety assistance systems to be carried out efficiently.

Networked, flexible, future-proof

Like the entire Aldenhoven Testing Center, the urban environment is fully covered by Vodafone's 5G Mobility Lab, which is constantly being developed and updated, enabling tests with the latest generation of mobile communications standards. This is supplemented by various WLANs and recently renewed access points for comprehensive ITS-G5 WiFi coverage. Traffic lights that communicate according to the V2X standard are also available.

Variable building backdrops, freely positionable markings and signage, and closely spaced sensor connections ensure that the tracks can be flexibly adapted to individual test requirements.

Versatile areas for different scenarios

Whether intersections and straights, a 65 × 100 m² multifunctional area, or differently equipped parking areas—all areas are modular and designed for demanding tests, including automated and autonomous driving functions.

When will we see you in our city? Our team will be happy to advise you.
