Everyone is breathing a sigh of relief in this beautiful weather: motorcycle and racing bike enthusiasts can finally take to the roads, and the little ones can play outside at the neighborhood playground. This is a good reason to once again present our “playground” for testing and safety checks for driving professionals: our vehicle dynamics area.  

Precise, reproducible, and safe vehicle testing requires an environment that meets the highest technical standards. Our driving dynamics area offers just that: a versatile, spacious test environment specially designed for testing motorcycles, cars, and trucks with an axle load of up to 10 tons. 

Vehicle dynamics area: 210 meters in diameter  

At the center is our flat, circular asphalt surface with a diameter of 210 meters. It enables a wide range of dynamic tests – from classic dynamic tests of steering and braking behavior to demanding maneuvers for automated vehicles under realistic conditions.  

The area is ideally suited for:

• Motorcycles
• Passenger cars
• Trucks with an axle load of up to 10 tons
• Safety assist tests according to Euro NCAP standards

This means it meets the requirements of modern driver assistance and system testing. 

Flexible approach lanes for a wide range of scenarios  

The standard approach lane is 400 meters long and can be extended to 500 meters if needed. This allows for both classic acceleration tests and complex test setups with higher starting speeds. A cross approach expands the driving options and thus provides the required conditions for the EuroNCAP Emergency Braking Test.

Separate return tracks ensure smooth test operation and enable high test frequencies without unnecessary downtime.

Flexible markings for every test requirement

Depending on the test, permanent or temporary markings can be applied to the surface. This allows all driving test setups – from simple lane keeping tests to complex courses – to be implemented flexibly and quickly. 

Sensor shaft: A look under the vehicle  

A special feature is the integrated sensor shaft at the edge of the driving dynamics surface. This allows various sensor modules or cameras to be installed flush with the surface – completely drive-over and well protected. This enables precise perspectives and measurement methods that provide insights into vehicle and tire behavior. Applications:  

• Camera recordings of tire contact patches
• Measurement of contact pressure
• Thermal imaging

Whether classic driving tests or state-of-the-art sensor and assistance system tests: our vehicle dynamics area is ready for any testing “gimmick.”  And for those who prefer wet conditions despite the sunshine: the vehicle dynamics area can also be watered.
