Last Saturday, in perfect weather, the bicycle discipline for the Deutsches Sportabzeichen (German Sports Badge) was taken for the first time on our proving ground. And this was done quite sportily with muscle power – engines were only there as background scenery from the neighboring highway segment of the FTL, on which a quarter-mile race was held at the same time.

Various courses were offered for around 40 examinees at our test center. And even though the starts were different, the

  • the 5 km,
  • 10 km
  • and 20 km

had a common goal. In addition, the 200m sprints were offered on the outside lane of the start-finish straight.

After exactly 45 minutes all participants of the first run were at the finish line, with excellent times. Especially the first four showed impressively how fast you can do 20 km with good teamwork.

The conclusion of the day: For the athletes, organizers and us it was a successful premiere at the Aldenhoven Testing Center. We are looking forward to the next time!
